Written by: John Edward BetancourtHave you ever wondered what it would be like to go to a Con that catered specifically to your favorite genre? Let's face facts, while conventions do an amazing job of catering to as many genres as they possibly can, stuff will always fall through the cracks. One particular genre that seems to suffer from this is steampunk. You'll see panels at many of the conventions and costumes to match but the truth is, and until today, I wasn't aware of a place that steampunk could call home. Thankfully there is Anomaly Con in Denver, a convention that celebrates all things steampunk and alternative history, while doing its best to handle other genres as well. Now entering its third year, this particular convention continues to grow and we here at Girls of Geek had the opportunity to see it first hand today. If anything, our first impression was the laid back nature of the con, which is always a plus. There were plenty of smiles to be found as people walked around in their impressive steampunk gear. Of course as is always the case with opening night, there is basic programming and people getting settled in. We all know the biggest day of a con is Saturday and we will be sure to bring it to you tomorrow. But if you're curious what a steampunk convention looks like or if you love the genre and want to show off your gear, head down to the Doubletree Hotel off of I-25 and Orchard Road to check it out. Anomaly Con runs through this weekend. For information on tickets please visit: http://anomalycon.com/
