Written by John Edward Betancourt It really is quite the wonderful time to be a Doctor Who fan. After all, we have a new Doctor and a new Companion to join him on his adventures through time and space, and Russell T. Davies, the man responsible for new Who in general is back at the helm. Not to mention, as we stated in our review of the new season, we are headed into a fascinating reset for the show. Wherein the stories and the vibe are outright different and refreshing in nature, so it should come as no surprise… that all the excitement and wonder surrounding the new season… extended to last night’s red-carpet premiere of the show. Because everyone in attendance was excited to see what the Fifteenth Doctor will be getting up to in his first year in the TARDIS and that brought about smiles and joy and a party for the ages and well, since you’re a fan of the show and are eager to share in the wonder of the this premiere, here is a quick recap of the evening that was, alongside a bevy of photos, as we countdown the minutes to the return of the Last of the Time Lords. ‘On May 8, Disney Branded Television hosted the U.S. premiere event for “Doctor Who” at NeueHouse Hollywood in Los Angeles. Attendees were treated to a cosmic joyride with an exclusive screening ahead of the season debut May 10 on Disney+, followed by a timey-wimey after-party immersed in the world of “Doctor Who.” In attendance were series stars Ncuti Gatwa (Fifteenth Doctor) and Millie Gibson (Ruby Sunday), as well as the creative team — Russell T Davies (showrunner, executive producer and writer) and executive producers Jane Tranter, Julie Gardner, Phil Collinson and Joel Collins. Distinguished celebrities and guests included Alex Borstein (“Family Guy,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”), Kari Byron (“MythBusters”), Dan Povenmire (“Phineas and Ferb”), Rick and Becky Riordan (“Percy Jackson and the Olympians”), Dua Saleh (“Sex Education”) and many more. An introduction to the screening was made by Ayo Davis (president, Disney Branded Television). The Doctor and his companion Ruby Sunday travel across time and space, with adventures all the way from the Regency era in England to war-torn future worlds. Throughout their adventures in the TARDIS — a time-traveling ship shaped like a police box — they encounter incredible friends and dangerous foes, including a terrifying bogeyman and the Doctor’s most powerful enemy yet. On Friday, May 10, at 4:00 p.m. PDT / 7:00 p.m. EDT on Disney+ in the U.S. and around the world (excluding the U.K.), audiences can stream “The Church on Ruby Road,” which premiered last December, as well as two all-new episodes. In the U.K., “Doctor Who” begins streaming on May 11 at midnight on BBC iPlayer before airing on BBC One later that day, giving audiences a simultaneous global launch. New episodes drop Fridays on Disney+, where available, and on Saturdays on the BBC and BBC iPlayer in the U.K.’
