Written by John Edward Betancourt Earlier today, we made mention of the fact, that the red carpet premiere for Descendants: The Rise of Red, was more than just a gathering of the cast and crew of the film. For it was held on the Disney lot, and that meant others could drop by and say hello and check things out, and that most certainly happened at that event. For in the midst of poses and stories about the making of the film, the cast of the upcoming series, Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, dropped by take in the wonder of the moment. Which allowed for this cast to make their first appearance together, and that’s also a big deal. After all, this is the follow-up to the wildly popular, Wizards of Waverly Place, and well… their appearance undoubtedly raises a few questions about the show, that we will answer for you now. Such as, this series, from Disney Branded Television, is slated to premiere on Disney Channel and Disney+ later this year. It stars, David Henrie (Justin Russo), Janice LeAnn Brown (Billie), Alkaio Thiele (Roman Russo), Taylor Cora (Winter), Max Matenko (Milo Russo), and Mimi Gianopulos (Giada Russo) and was brought forth creatively, from Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas, who serve as writers and executive producers, along with Gary Marsh, David Henrie and Selena Gomez, who will also guest star. Andy Fickman directed and executive-produced the pilot and will direct multiple episodes. Of course, you’re also likely curious about the plot. Well, the series follows an adult Justin Russo, who has chosen to lead a normal, mortal life with his family, Giada, Roman and Milo. When Justin’s sister Alex brings Billie to his home seeking help, Justin realizes he must dust off his magical skills to mentor the wizard-in-training while also juggling his everyday responsibilities — and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World. If anything, it was just amazing to know that worlds collided at the premiere and that fans of another beloved franchise have more to look forward to later this year, when the next chapter in the Waverly Place saga gets underway.

Simply because that is the culmination of months or years of work, wherein everyone involved in the project can see the final edit and properly pay tribute to the work they put into creating a powerful story. But there is so much more that goes into creating a series and celebrating it and getting word out to the world, as evidenced by todays behind the scenes look at the press tour for an upcoming Apple TV+ series. For earlier today, Fernando Rovzar, and Bárbara Mori, Ximena Sariñana, Amorita Ragado, and Natalia Téllez, gathered in Mexico City to speak with press in person and virtually, to discuss their brand-new series, Women in Blue. A series created by Fernando and starring Bárbara, Ximena, Amorita, and Natalia, and is a fascinating and powerful series set in the 1970s. About the first women on the police force in Mexico and their struggles in being part of a police force that did not accept them, and well… this is a big deal. Because this is one of the first steps in celebrating a show and the word begins to spread from here, and to give you a little sampling of what kind of celebration takes place, here are some photos from the event for you to check out, and make sure you swing back by NTG in the coming weeks, as we share our interviews from this event since we were able to attend virtually, as the countdown begins to the arrival of a poignant and important series. ABOUT “WOMEN IN BLUE”: ‘Featuring an entirely Hispanic cast and crew led by Ariel Award nominee Bárbara Mori (“Perdidos en La Noche," "La Negociadora," "La Mujer De Mi Hermano”) and created by International Emmy Award-winning showrunner and director Fernando Rovzar (“Monarca,” “Sr. Ávila”) and Pablo Aramendi (“Tijuana,” “Los Elegidos”), the series will make its global debut with the first two episodes on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 on Apple TV+, followed by one episode weekly through September 25. Set in 1970 and inspired by true events, “Women in Blue” tells the story of four women who defy the ultra-conservative norms of the time and join Mexico’s first female police force, only to discover that their squad is a publicity stunt to distract the media from a brutal serial killer. As the body count grows, María (Mori), whose determination to catch the killer becomes an obsession, Gabina (Amorita Rasgado), whose father is a renowned cop, Ángeles (Ximena Sariñana), a brilliant fingerprint analyst, and Valentina (Natalia Téllez), a young rebel, set up a secret investigation to achieve what no male officer has been able to do and bring the serial killer to justice. The series also stars Miguel Rodarte, Leonardo Sbaraglia, Christian Tappan and Horacio García Rojas.’ Written by John Edward Betancourt When we think of the illustrious red carpet premiere, specific images come to mind. Wherein the cast and crew of an upcoming new series or film put on their absolute best to walk said red carpet and snap some photos, before heading into the theater to celebrate what they worked so hard to create. A celebration that definitely lasts for a while and rarely features kids. Just because that really doesn’t seem to be a place where they should spend a ton of time, so they briefly cameo at a premiere or are nowhere to be found. Which is an idea, that Disney does not subscribe to, and understandably so. For they work with children and teenagers often and know that they too, should experience the majesty of walking that carpet and feeling like the star, they are, and that is precisely why they host such events and allow for the cast members of their show to revel in the majesty of the work they put together and recently, Disney and Disney Jr. hosted one such event. For the red carpet premiere of Disney Jr.’s Ariel, aptly called ‘Disney Jr. Seaside Celebration’, took place on June 28, 2024 alongside members of local New York community organizations at The Battery Conservancy in New York City. The series premiered June 27, 2024 on Disney Jr., with eight episodes now available on Disney+. ‘Disney Jr.’s Ariel Seaside Celebration’ included Caribbean-inspired music and dance parties, interactive activities and a special debut appearance by Ariel, who will be featured in the upcoming ‘Disney Jr. Live On Tour: Let’s Play’ national tour kicking off this fall. If anything, this really was quite the lovely way to celebrate the hard work put into this show and to pay everyone’s work the tribute it deserves, here are some photos of the seaside celebration, courtesy of Disney. |
