Written by John Edward Betancourt The Super Bowl means a great many things to those who watch it and those who take part in it. For the fans, it’s all about bragging rights when their favorite team wins the big game, since no one can talk smack about a team that finishes on top. But for the players… well this particular matchup means so much more. Because in many ways, a Super Bowl win is all about making history. Because there are only so many Super Bowl Champions out there and being on a team that wins the big one, means that they will forever have their named associated with the rich history of the NFL and that’s definitely something quite special for certain. But for the superstars of the game, the ones that guide and lead their team to this all-important game in an epic manner, a Super Bowl win relates to their legacy. Because the finest players in the game, want nothing more than to stand out above the rest and be remembered for being the best in the league and multiple championships goes a long way in making that happen, and really, legacy was the prevailing theme of Super Bowl LV. Simply because heading into this particular game, both quarterbacks in this matchup were looking to either add to their already rich legacy or begin to build their own… building all kinds of anticipation for a game that should have been a thrilling and powerhouse matchup for the ages. But alas, in the end, this ended up being quite the one-sided affair, one that saw the Tampa Bay Buccaneers walk away with the Lombardi Trophy and a seventh Super Bowl ring for the man that is now the indisputable GOAT of the NFL and really, the only question hanging over this particular game the morning after is… what went wrong for the Chiefs? Because they are a good football team and they should have performed far better in this game than they actually did and well, the issue at hand when it comes to last night's lackluster performance, certainly doesn’t relate to talent in the slightest. No instead, their outright and embarrassing failure in the Super Bowl comes down to one thing and one thing alone: a lack of preparation. For in essence, Kansas City took Tampa Bay for granted. For they believed that their offense would be able to score at will and outpace anything that Brady could do on the field and that meant little preparation when into scheming against the Tampa Bay Defense, as evidenced by their play. Because the KC offense was outright confused and stymied by everything that the mighty Bucs defense threw at them and that shell-shocked response to having a defense stand up to them in a fearless fashion, allowed for mistakes to be made on offense and for an exhausted and worked over KC defense, to straight up unravel on national television. If anything, this game just goes to show that the Kansas City Chiefs, while talented, need an injection of humility and this game hopefully gave them that. Because they were out coached and outplayed by a team of misfit players and cast offs that wanted to prove to the league they were still talented and still worthwhile and it is definitely mission accomplished when it comes to that. For Tom Brady, the quarterback that was supposed to be washed up and in decline, showed everyone that he still has a lot great football left in him and that he can inspire a team to rise up and accomplish wonders when it matters. But most important of all, Brady’s big win on the biggest possible stage, reinforces the fact that he is in fact, the greatest quarterback to ever play the game and he is only going to add to that legacy by coming back for his twenty-second season.
