Written by John Edward Betancourt Week 12 in the NFL is a special time for football fans. Because often times this particular week takes place during Thanksgiving weekend, as is the case this year. Which means that we use this holiday to combine our love of football with our love of family, and being able to watch the game with our dad or our grandfather once again, brings peace and joy to our souls because we thrive on the wonder of sharing in our favorite sport with those we love. But this year, things will be slightly different, since not everyone is going to be at the same dinner table or in the same room, because of the strange nature of 2020. But that won't stop us from watching the games and texting away with our family members about our favorite teams before settling in for our meals and our naps in order to keep some semblance of tradition going, since tradition definitely brings us comfort during trying times. But while it is nice to reflect upon how these games have a special meaning for us this year and every year, we would be remiss to not look at all the juicy storylines and epic games that await us this holiday weekend. So, with that in mind, let’s dive right in and preview everything that Week 12 has to offer. Can the Denver Broncos play the spoiler once again? Obviously, the Denver Broncos came into 2020 expecting to show the football world that they were a force to be reckoned with. Which is a plan that did not come to fruition in the slightest. But surprisingly, as this scrappy team continues to keep fighting and winning games the world thinks they are going to lose, they’ve taken on a new role in this league, since they now play the spoiler. Because they brought the New England Patriots down to earth a few weeks ago when it seemed as though the Pats were finally putting things together and they shocked the Dolphins on Sunday. Which begs the question, can they do it again? And the answer to that question is a resounding yes, if they follow their Sunday game plan once more. If anything, the only X Factor in this matchup is Taysom Hill, simply because there’s not a lot of tape on this guy and few know what he can do. But if the Broncos can contain him, they’ll be 5-6 and well-known for interrupting smooth seasons. Will the Packers finally treat an opponent with respect this weekend? We’ve talked at length about how the Green Bay Packers are really good at taking their opponents for granted and often pay the price for doing so. And wouldn’t you know it? They did it again last week. Because they let the Colts take control, since they didn't believe Indy could beat them and well, one does have to wonder if this is the week, they FINALLY take their opponent seriously and honestly… I don’t know if they will. Because they really do see teams with so-so or losing records as beneath them and that just seems to be engrained in the team’s psyche right now. So, don’t be shocked if Chicago pulls out a huge upset here, because ego has taken root at Lambeau Field and it is going to continue to cost Green Bay wins until they decide to show it the door. Believe it or not, Philadelphia has a chance to win big on Sunday. Now, I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking I might be getting into my holiday egg nog early this year by saying that the Philadelphia Eagles could potentially upset the Seattle Seahawks but hear me out. Because while Russell Wilson is indeed a fine quarterback, one that knows how to put the ball in the endzone on a moment’s notice, the Seahawks defense is just… the worst. For they continually let everyone and everything through and they’ve cost this team dearly in 2020. So, don't be surprised if Carson Wentz and the Philly offense start to find a groove in this one and put some serious points on the board and lock up the big win. Because the Seattle defense is an embarrassment to watch right now, and they don't seem all that interested in improving.
