It's interesting how teams start to evolve, for better and for worse once the first quarter of the NFL season is in the books. Bad teams tend to stay bad since losing is starting to become a habit and great teams fine tune the wonderful things they're already doing to add to their win column. As for the teams that are everything in between...well they either find a way to rise to the occasion or watch their season slip away and really, that's what we are going to look at today when it comes to tomorrow's games, teams that are looking to stay elite, and teams that are looking to change their fortunes, so without further ado, let's highlight the most fascinating games to watch come tomorrow. 

Okay, I know what you're thinking. How on earth could a game featuring two 0-4 teams be fascinating in the slightest, and normally I'd flat out agree with you. But this game, well this game features two teams that are hungry and desperate to get their season going and that means, we should be in for one heck of a game. After all, the Giants know they're better than their record, and have flirted with their first win of the season for several weeks now with some close games and the Chargers, well they know that they have to start winning if they wants fans to show up at their home games so I think we can honestly expect this game to be a high scoring affair and a win here is critical for either team if they want to salvage what's left of their equally dismal seasons.

If there is one game that really has me excited come Sunday, it's this one. Only because, both of these teams have exceeded expectations early on this season and proven to the league that they can hang with the best of them. After all, the Panthers handed the Patriots an embarrassing loss last week and the Lions played sixty minutes of hard nosed football against the Minnesota Vikings. Which means we are in for quite the treat, because both of these teams are fearless and happy to leave everything out on the field which means we are either in for an incredible defensive battle, or a shoot out for the ages. Either way, we're in for one heck of a game and I get the feeling whichever team minimizes their mistakes and limits their turnovers, is the one that walks away with a victory here. 

Let's be honest. What makes this game so incredibly fascinating has nothing to do with Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. We know they're good and what they're capable of. What has this game on my personal radar is the Dallas Cowboys and whether or not they can overcome adversity in the slightest. Yes, they're a talented team. Yes Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott make for one hell of a dynamic duo. But when a play or game doesn't go their way, they fold and then the team folds behind their leadership and that's a problem they need to fix and quickly and what better a time to do it, than against the mighty Green Bay Packers. Because the Pack is going to challenge and test Dallas at every turn, so if Dak and Zeke can focus and understand that not every play is going to be a twenty yard gain or a touchdown, and stick to their fundamentals then there's a fair chance Dallas can cure the problems that have plagued them this season, but if they get frustrated and regress, Cowboys fans might be in for a long game. 

A year ago, a matchup like this I would have outright ignored simply because Kansas City would easily have walked away with a win over Houston. But considering the fact that the Texans offense is suddenly clicking, and their defense is suddenly resurgent, this game may end up being quite the showdown. Because despite their stellar 4-0 record, the Chiefs do have a weakness, their defense. Outside of a single domination blowout against the Chargers, teams have been able to score on the Kansas City D and hang with them during a game and if Dehsaun Watson can replicate a fraction of the success he saw against Tennessee, and if the Houston defense can keep Alex Smith contained and rob him of the run game, there's a fair chance the Texans can shock the football world, and defeat the last undefeated team. 

Amen to that, Yogi. Baseball teams are volatile, especially over the course of a grueling 162 game season. Predicting in April where each of the 30 teams will finish in October is a fool’s errand, one that I happily took on. Unfortunately, I’m neither blessed with a time-traveling DeLorean nor a Grays Sports Almanac from the future. If I were, I might be a little more right. But that’s okay! I’m here to fess up for my predictions that were way off (and humble brag about those that were spot on). The 2017 MLB regular season was a tantalizing roller-coaster ride. As the dust settles, here’s a look at where things ended compared to how I thought they would look, back on Opening Day. 

• Cream of the Crop: Maybe I have an eye for talent. Maybe powerhouses are easily identifiable. Either way, I had a good feel for who would come away with division titles, picking five of six correctly. I had the Nationals, Cubs, Dodgers, Red Sox, and Cleveland all winning their division, and most of those teams did so by a wide margin. The only team I didn’t peg to take theirs was the Astros. Thanks a lot, Mariners…
• Astro-nomically Good: Speaking of the Astros, I wasn’t completely wrong about them. I argued that Houston would continue to rocket up the standings, 'maybe into a Wild Card (or even higher…)'. Well, Houston chose 'even higher', finishing the year with a whopping 101 wins and the AL West title, finishing 21 games ahead of the Angels in the division.
• No Red October: Cincinnati lived up to expectations about how bad they would be. At the beginning of the year, I pointed out that the Reds’ pitchers had given up a league-worst 258 home runs in 2016 and expressed concern about the possibility for improvement in 2017. They repeated that feat this year, giving up the most home runs in the majors (248) and finishing with the second-worst ERA. That was good enough for a 68-94 record, making them the fourth-worst team in the league.

 
To try and save face again, I’ll go ahead and quote the wise Yoda: 'Difficult to see…always in motion is the future.' If a Jedi master doesn’t know who’s winning the American League West, then heck, I’ve got no chance. But unpredictability is what makes the 162-game trek so fun. And 2017 was a fun baseball year, full of record streaks and surprise contenders. If the MLB Postseason can follow in those footsteps, we’re in store for a good one! Play ball! 

A quarter of the NFL season is now in the books and as we look toward the next four weeks, one has to wonder what other surprises will be in store for us. After all, the Patriots and Cowboys, a pair of teams that were completely and utterly elite last year, are mediocre at best through four weeks and other teams, like Buffalo, suddenly find themselves firmly in control of their destiny when it comes to the playoff race. Which means, I'm certain we can expect another wild weekend of football, one filled with thrills and chills and fascinating storylines and here the top stories from the field we are keeping an eye upon in Week 5.

Is Mitch Trubiksy the answer at quarterback for Chicago? 
When you're a top ten draft pick in the NFL, you start and you start quickly, because to go that high in the draft means you're pro ready and set to contribute. But sometimes, players chosen that early in the draft don't quite see the field right away, and people question if they should have been picked that high and well...that sums up Mitch Trubisky's brief career in a nutshell. The number two overall pick, was an unpopular choice when it comes to Chicago fans and was relegated to carrying a clipboard once the season started, but thanks to Mike Glennon's awful play, and the fact that the season is slipping away, his fortunes have changed. The fans that spurned him have called for him to start and this Sunday, their wish will be granted, but the big question hanging over this whole ordeal is whether or not Mitch is the answer at QB in Chicago and honestly I think he is. He showed poise and command of the offense in the preseason, and while I fully understand the regular season is a different beast, the calm he exudes and the natural abilities he's demonstrated thus far should help salvage Chicago's dismal season. 

What will it take for the Miami Offense to finally be successful?
When Adam Gase was hired a couple of years ago to coach the Miami Dolphins, his number one priority was to bring new life to the normally stagnant Miami offense, something he excelled at as a coordinator around the league. But since his arrival, that invigoration of the offense simply hasn't happened yet, to the point where even Gase has publicly expressed frustration around a lack of performance when it comes to that side of the ball and when all is said done, I think it's safe to assume that everyone is wondering what the heck it will take to get the O rolling in Miami and quite frankly, the answer is simple, they have to get the run game going. Currently, the Dolphins are averaging 66.3 yards per game on the ground which means that opposing teams know it's going to be a fancy passing play when they line up on defense. So if Miami wants to make some magic happen, they need a heavy dose of the ground game to set up the pass for Jay Cutler, and they can't abandon it either, and if they can accomplish that, perhaps Gase's vision for a powerhouse offense will come to fruition at last.

Is this the week where San Francisco finally wins a game? 
Growing pains are a part of life in the NFL when you change up your entire front office, but I'm fairly certain that General Manager John Lynch and Head Coach Kyle Shanahan expected to be in a far better place than 0-4 to start the season, which begs the question...when will the 49ers finally win a game? Well, my money is on this week and here's why. First and foremost, this team is far better than people give them credit and I say that, simply because outside of a Week 1 blowout, this team has managed to hang in there until the bitter end, they simply struggle with closing out games and drives on defense. Enter the Indianapolis Colts, a team that quite frankly, is far worse than people give them credit. They still struggle on offense despite some impressive play from QB Jacoby Brissett and that defense is downright ugly. Which means, if the 49ers can come together on the field, execute on defense and close out drives, they'll earn that all important first win of the season.

Can the Patriots and Cowboys rebound this week?
When it comes to New England and Dallas, the first word one that comes to mind when I think of them is talent, because these teams are indeed loaded to the gills with it at just about every single level on their rosters. They have great quarterbacks, great receivers, the list goes on and on. Yet...both of these teams are 2-2 and in danger of letting their season slip away and their fans are not only wondering what the heck is going on, but whether or not they can right the ship this week and honestly, I'm not sure at this point. The real problem with both of these teams, is that they believe in their own hype over fundamentals at this point in the season and that's quite the shame since both of these teams could be 4-0 right now. So, if the Patriots finally figure out that Super Bowl LI is over, and if the Cowboys remember that work and execution matters more than star power, they should rebound nicely this week with a win. 

Are the Kansas City Chiefs walking into a trap game against Houston? 
Houston is a team that most fans write off week after week simply because, they're okay but rarely great. J.J. Watt is usually the only good thing they have going for them on defense and often times the offense is nothing to write home about. But something special has been brewing at NRG Stadium all season long. The defense is making strides as a unit, and Deshaun Watson is finding his groove, and last week, they put it all together in stellar fashion. Which makes you wonder, is Kansas City walking into one big time surprise on Sunday Night? Honestly, it's possible. With their confidence on the rise and their 'nothing to lose' attitude firmly in place, there's a chance that the Texans can beat the Chiefs, provided they can slow the run, contain Alex Smith and isolate his receivers, which is quite the tall order. But considering how well this team is suddenly playing, don't be shocked if Houston stuns Kansas City and walks out of this game with a big time win. 

Sometimes, you simply have to expect the unexpected when it comes to the NFL, because this is a league that likes to surprise its fans, and that's precisely what happened in Week 4. After all, teams that were supposed to handily win their games, suffered a loss, and games that should have been boring and slow, ended up being knock down, drag it out shootouts. But despite the fact this past weekend of football left many a fan staring at their television with their jaw dropped, we also discovered a great many things about our favorite teams, so without further ado, here is what we learned from a wild Week 4 in the NFL. 

The Kansas City Chiefs are a supremely good football team. 
There are plenty of reasons as to why the Kansas City Chiefs are the only undefeated team at the NFL at this point; Kareem Hunt's ability to run the ball, Alex Smith's ability to improvise or his wonderful vision downfield, or the defense's strong play for that matter. But to me, their toughness and ability to overcome adversity is what truly makes this team stand out above the rest. They simply cannot be rattled in any phase of the game and that fearless approach has clearly served them well since they are now the team to beat in the AFC, and considering how well they are playing and how many playmakers they have on either side of the ball, toppling these titans is going to be quite the monumental task.

The Houston Texans may have finally found their franchise quarterback. 
Every team that drafts a QB to groom for the future, waits patiently for the moment when 'their guy' manages to put everything together and reaffirms their decision to pick him in the first place. Sometimes it takes years before that moment arrives, or it never happens at all and the team parts ways but once in a while, the new kid on the block puts it all together early on and that magical moment arrived for the Houston Texans on Sunday because holy cow, did Deshaun Watson have a day. With a final a stat line of 25-34, 283 yards passing, and five total touchdowns by land and air, Watson helped the Texans utterly decimate the Titans to the tune of 57-14 and well...in doing so, the kid looked a seasoned pro on the field. His throws were simply magnificent, his reads were sharp, and that's great news for the Houston front office and the fans for that matter as well, because at long last, they have the QB they've been searching for.

The Buffalo Bills are a quality football team once again.
Normally, when one speaks of the Buffalo Bills, it's done in jest or in flippant fashion because let's be honest...this team has been bad for a very long time. But these past couple of weeks, the Bills have proven themselves to be quite the powerhouse NFL team. First they put the Broncos on notice, and beat them handily at home, and then...they go on the road and defeat the Atlanta Falcons in their shiny new stadium, and what's truly impressive about these wins is how complete they are turning out to be. They're putting up points on offense, all while playing some stifling defense and considering the fact that they are now the number one team in the AFC East, it's high time teams take the Bills seriously from here on out when they face off against them, because they are truly a solid football team.

There is something wrong with the New England Patriots.
For some teams in the NFL, 2-2 would actually be quite the respectable place to be this time of year. But for the New England Patriots, who boast that very record, 2-2 feels like 0-16 and while losing is inevitable in the NFL, you know it's eating at New England and while many can immediately point the finger at their shoddy defensive play as the culprit for this blasé start to the season, I'm inclined to think there are other issues going on with this squad. For example, they're devoid of leadership on either side of the ball. Sure Tom Brady is playing well, but the fire and energy we come to expect from him really hasn't been there all year long, in fact I would cite the New Orleans game as the only time Tom has acted like Tom and honestly, it feels as though this team is still stuck in the past and focused on their Championship status and they need to snap out of it fast or they'll be watching the Playoffs from the comfort of their living rooms.

Mike Glennon may never be a starting QB in the NFL again. 
If you're a quarterback in the NFL, your dream is to eventually start for a team and become a franchise quarterback and sadly, some of the guys who get that chance, come to discover they don't have what it takes to be 'the guy' for a team and that their career is going to consist of riding the pine until the big name goes down with an injury and sadly...I think that's the realization that Bears QB Mike Glennon is coming to right now. After all, he showed promise early on in his career, enough in fact that Chicago was willing to hand him a juicy contract and the all important captain's patch. But, let's be honest, Glennon's time under center has been a disaster. He can't read a D that well, he struggles with leadership and pressure and because of that, he's been benched for Mitch Trubisky, the number two overall pick this year and considering that the entire league has seen Glennon's struggles, there's a fair chance he is going to be a number two quarterback for the rest of his career...
