Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Turns out that Sense8 is not a show without humor since the fifth episode in the series is the first time I found myself laughing pretty hard at some well done comedy and quite frankly, it's something the series needed at this point in time. After all, we've been dealing with heartbreaking decisions and solid scares from the get go. So there's really nothing wrong with letting loose, allowing the characters and the audience to have a good time before getting back to business and while there were laughs to be had, "Art Is Like Religion" is also the first episode in the series that really allowed for the Sensates to interact with one another without something wild, crazy or life threatening come into play. It made for some genuinely touching scenes in fact. Oddly enough, those touching scenes in question involved Capheus, who is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters on the show because of how outright good the man really is and how he truly believes in doing things for others. It's refreshing to see an agenda that involves making life better for other people over anything else. It's unfortunate that it is clearly going to get the young man in trouble with Silas at some point I'm sure. But his wonderful outlook on the world and his lovely moment with Sun leads to the young lady deciding to help out her family after all and turn herself in. While it was a dark moment for Sun, it was really the only dark moment in the episode. We were treated to Kala's wedding at last and despite her reservations it was quite a lovely occasion. Minus a surprise appearance by Wolfgang in her mind. Plus, as I mentioned before, there was plenty of comedy courtesy of Lito. Turns out not only can the Sensates share one another's lives and interact in moments...they can also share a menstrual cycle and Lito just happened to share Sun's and the end result was hysterical. But despite all the fun this episode provided, there was of course the bigger threat out there to deal with and with Nomi now on the run, she and Amanita are starting to realize that Doctor Metzger is likely wrong about Nomi dying from whatever is happening in her mind and well...they want answers and they are going to find them and that's where leave our intrepid new friends for this episode. I like the subtle setup that Nomi is about to start digging and I have a funny feeling they are about to uncover something incredible and we will no doubt be seeing that mysterious man we met in the opening moments of the show once again. Until next time.
