Written by John Edward Betancourt There was a time, where cancellation was indeed the end of the line for a television show. Simply because, the network had spoken, and because of the ratings or cost or whatever reason was deemed necessary… that was that. The show was done and would only live on via the memories of its fans or on home video when it finally arrived on cassette, DVD or Blu Ray. But as the years have rolled along and television’s structure has evolved, something quite incredible has started to happen when a show is cancelled by its original network. In that, it doesn’t necessarily stay cancelled. Because sometimes, a show that didn’t quite fit the mold at one network, might work better on another one. So that other network is happy to take the show under their wing and renew it. A move that keeps the fans happy and keeps the creative individuals that worked so hard to bring this story to life, a chance to keep it going and hopefully bring their vision to its logical conclusion and well, that particular quirk about modern television is top of mind today, simply because it is about to happen again. For last year, the critically acclaimed comedy series, Minx, was cancelled by its original host network. Much to the chagrin of audiences and critics alike. But after careful consideration, STARZ realized it would fit better on their network and made quite the move. For earlier today, they announced that the show is moving to STARZ for its second season, and season one will find its way to the app as well. So that the complete story is ready and waiting for anyone that wants to go on this hilarious and brilliant journey and well, to offer you proper perspective on this wonderful news, here are all the details on this momentous announcement, courtesy of STARZ. ‘STARZ announced today it has picked up season one and two of the critically acclaimed comedy series “Minx.” STARZ will exclusively premiere the second season. “We have always felt this show would be a perfect fit for our brand with our dedication to narratives by, about and for women,” said Jeffrey Hirsch, President and CEO for STARZ. “STARZ is proud to be the new home for this incredible show that has drawn in well-deserved critical acclaim. The cast also includes Idara Victor, Jessica Lowe, Lennon Parham, Michael Angarano and Oscar Montoya. As previously announced, Elizabeth Perkins joined season two as recurring character Constance. “Minx” was created by Ellen Rapoport, who also serves as showrunner and executive producer, alongside Paul Feig and Dan Magnante for Feigco Entertainment, Ben Karlin and Rachel Lee Goldenberg, who also directed the pilot.
