Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Fighting off a member of the Hand, Matt lies on the ground and sees that Elektra is still the same woman he knows she was. Watching as she has slit the throat of the attacker, Matt may have asked her to do something that she cannot. After the cleaners leave the apartment, Matt has to put an end to what is going to happen in the relationship and pushes Elektra out the door since she enjoys killing and will not be able to change her ways. Already having a bad morning, Foggy enters the apartment to talk to his old buddy, but Matt is not in the mood. Basically telling Foggy that he should move on without him, Matt has distanced himself from everyone that used to consider him a friend. With the war coming, Matt may be preparing for a battle he cannot win, especially alone. Even with the Trial of the Century behind her, on the losing side, Karen is still looking into the cover-up that has taken place surrounding Frank Castle’s family. Finding a picture from the crime scene, Karen sees the picture of John Doe who was supposed to be forgotten. After seeing that Foggy has given up the fight on finding the truth, she has to turn to someone that will care. Going to see Ellison at the paper, he is intrigued by what she has found and asks her to follow up, if even just for the story. Talking to the coroner once again, the two find out that John Doe was an undercover officer giving them more pieces to the puzzle. Returning to the office, Karen is given Ben’s old office to continue her research and find out what is really happening behind the curtain. Now onto the meat of the episode, Wilson Fisk’s rise to power. On his first day of arriving in prison, Fisk is approached by the Kingpin of ‘the big box’ and told to keep to himself during his time. The advice of his lawyer is to keep his head down and stay out of trouble while his appeal is filed, but Fisk is never one to not be seen as the boss. Securing a crew, Fisk has a plan to take out his rival Kingpin and take over the prison to call his own while his time is served, and with Frank Castle making it to the cellblocks, it may be very easy to complete this. Spending the last of his reserve to get a meeting with the Punisher, Fisk is able to appeal to Frank with the mystery of who killed his family to make Castle do what he wants. Giving the Punisher a name and safe passage to the cellblock, he is now on the hunt for the truth. Being able to talk to Dutton, the man behind a blown drug deal between the cartel, Dogs of Hell and Irish, Frank finds out what really caused the firefight that killed his family. An undercover agent’s cover was blown during the exchange and everyone with a gun used it killing anyone that was in front of it. Knowing part of the story now, Frank wounds the soon to be former Kingpin, but he has been double crossed by Fisk and left to die in the cellblock as the other inmates are released. Being able to fend for himself, Castle makes quick work of his opponents and is transported to another cell to be further dealt with. But what he finds will make him question his actions to this point, but the war is far from over in his eyes. This has to be my favorite episode thus far of the season. Watching as Fisk is thrust back into power is just great and how he is able to manipulate the Punisher to do his dirty work, glorious. Karen is just getting better and better as the episodes move on and now with her drive for the truth in full swing, she is given some additional resources. I cannot wait to see what she uncovers next, just hopefully she is ready to fight when she finds it since this seems to be a touchy subject. Matt is on his own and he will have to defeat the Hand by himself, at least for now. Finding the drug operation of the Hand, he stumbles upon something else, I would expect that it is the Black Sky, but will have to wait to know for sure. With all kinds of people being bled out for whatever is in the sarcophagus and Matt seeing an old foe that should be dead, he might need to start to listen to the stories Stick has been telling him and putting the pieces together before it is too late. I would be lying if I said I did not love this show and every episode continues to drag you in deeper until you cannot see the light any longer.

Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...I have to admit that when I sat down to watch this week's episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I found myself nervous. After last week's strange turn of events for the characters and their respective personalities I was hoping that the show would find a way to redeem itself big time this week and not let any more of that ugliness pop up at all this go round. As it turns out, last week was indeed a one off because "Spacetime" is exactly the redemption I was hoping for. This was an episode filled to the brim with fascinating storylines. We saw our new villain in action, we had a moment of heartbreak, heck we even saw this story set up an important plot point or two for the rest of the season. But what mattered most, is that the team was unified for the first time in a long time against what appeared to be impossible odds and that was perhaps the most impressive part of the night. After all, it really looked like Daisy's life was in incredible danger, and I give the show big time credit for weaving such an intricate story by making it appear that Daisy was facing down her final hours on this planet. By giving us a quick look at her vision of the future you were instantly drawn into the experience and every single time we saw a flash from the vision come true...you simply had to wonder if Daisy was indeed watching the clock countdown to zero. But the best part about Daisy's story last night was that she was willing to do anything and everything to save a life this week. That's the Earthquake we have come to know and love and that alone helped wipe away the bad taste of last week. But as I mentioned before, we finally saw Hive/Ward do his thing and if anyone was wondering whether or not a little bit of Grant Ward was still alive in that rejuvenated corpse...the answer is now clear, Ward is dead and gone and what remains is ruthless and terrifying. If anything it was bone chilling to watch Hive encourage Malick to take a life, and equally chilling to see Malick enjoy doing it and while this week may not have featured their grand plot to take over the world...it's clear S.H.I.E.L.D. has met its match. The saddest moment of the night however, came by way of Andrew's goodbye to May. Last night featured his final transformation into Lash and it was tough to watch these two finally hash out whatever bad blood was left between them before Andrew faded away forever. Yet, despite everything that this episode threw at us and our feels...it did bring forth a lot of questions as it set up the rest of the season. For starters, why do I get the funny feeling now that Lash is not the villain we thought him to be...but a misguided hero? All this talk about how each Inhuman is created to bring about a balance, perhaps Lash is the only being that can stand up to Hive and perhaps his murdering spree was designed to remove dangerous Inhumans that would have helped Hive in his mission to take over the world. It may take some time to get all the answers on Lash, but I really do feel as though he will redeem himself by the end of the season. The other question in my mind...is what exactly is coming for the team with the return of that image of a Quinjet burning in space? Is there indeed a death coming for a member of S.H.I.E.L.D.? Or can the future be changed after all? Only time will tell. Until next time. Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...After locating a giant hole that the Yakuza were protecting, Matt and Elektra are ambushed by another group of highly trained shadow fighters. Being able to hold their own, even when Matt is unable to hear the fighters heartbeats, a moment of distraction changes the battle for the worse. As Elektra receives a sword across the torso, Matt is put down in the fight while trying to protect her. When all seems lost, a friend from the past comes and helps the two youngins out as Stick is hiding in the shadows as well. Knowing that it is only a matter of time before Elektra dies from her wound, Stick gets his free pass back into Matt’s apartment. Waiting at the courthouse, Foggy and Karen are concerned that they will have to once again go at the District Attorney alone. When Foggy remembers that he yelled at Matt to stay away from the case, it is not really a surprise that he did not show up. Questioning Castle’s Colonel from the war, the Colonel comes clean about what kind of man he had in his unit, a hero, a man that he owes his life to for what he was able to accomplish in battle. Also putting a neurologist on the stand, the man who saved Castle’s life after being shot in the head, he believes the injuries that this man suffered must have driven the Punisher mad. Stating that Castle is reliving the moments just before his family was killed over and over again, there is no way that he could possibly be in his right mind. As the day comes to a close, Foggy needs to have Frank take the stand to talk about that terrible day that changed his life. But Foggy will need Matt to do the questioning, since the two men are so much alike in their extra activities, he will be able to bond better with the jury. As Elektra is bleeding out, Stick knows what it will take to cure her. The swords had poisoned blades and she will die off if Matt does not allow him to work his magic. Being able to counteract the poison, Stick needs to talk to his old trainee about the war that is coming to Hell’s Kitchen. Matt has heard the stories before, but has not heard one fact come out of his mentor’s mouth concerning it. An ancient group called the Hand is back and starting to lay claim to the city and are looking to unleash something called Black Sky upon the world. Even though he does not know what it does, Stick is scared to death about this and has spent his life training others to pick up arms against the Hand to keep it from fulfilling its purpose. Matt is shocked to see that even Elektra is a student and is following her master into battle as well. Needing to make a change, Matt offers his ex a way out of her situation, but that means betraying her teacher and putting her old ways in the rearview mirror, but can she really change who she has been trained to be. While Frank Castle is being brought to the stand, the hatred can be felt all around the court. Matt is ready to start his questioning and wants Frank to talk about the day that he lost his family, but Frank stays quiet, so Matt has to try another tactic. Trying to appeal to the jury, Matt talks about how sick the city has been, how the corruption has overtaken the streets and how he applauds anyone that is willing to take a stand against evil. Making sure that everyone knows what the District Attorney’s plan is to rid the streets of vigilante justice, the police do not have the ability to stop every evil doer, so the world needs…Heroes. Being a great speech, Frank wants to be heard as well and goes off the deep end, saying he would do it again if he had to and his killing spree is far from over. With the defense’s case thrown out the window, Matt has to find a way to get his team back as they are truly on the outs. Oh My Goodness, Stick is BACK! That just made me happy inside, even though he and Matt are not on the best of terms, I really like this character and he does provide a purpose. Watching as he takes care of his kids, he knows that only the strong will be of use in the upcoming war and I cannot wait to see it begin. This was a tough episode for the Matt, Foggy and Karen friendship for sure. As Karen has been kept in the dark about all things concerning Matt, she does not know if she can trust him at all and calls it quits. Foggy needs his friend to be by his side during the biggest case of his career and when it finally happens, nothing goes right. Blaming Matt for Frank’s outburst, Foggy knows he could have done it all on his own with no problems, but Matt is trying to make sure that his friend knows someone got to Castle before he took the stand. Some old friends are being brought back into the story now and I hope to see more of them since it has been awhile since the first season. Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...While waiting for his stay of execution, Frank Castle is doing his best to keep his appearance up, but that will not be enough to prove that he is not the one to blame for his crimes. As the jury is selected for his trial, the defensive team of Nelson and Murdock are formulating their own attack. When reading the coroner’s report about Castle’s family’s autopsies, the group finds out that there are more things about Frank’s past being covered up. Knowing that the report has been changed, the defense team might have something to plead their case with and as long as they are able to prove this in the court, they have a fighting chance for the Punisher. Since Karen is the only one that Frank talks to, she is sent to the prison to ask him more questions that could be used in his defense. Getting upset about the PTSD defense, their tactic will have to change drastically for the man of honor. But this is not the only reason why Karen is talking with Frank, as she made him a promise to find out who was the one behind the killing of his family. Back at the office, Matt is trying to prepare for the greatest opening statement of his career when Elektra gives him a call. Finding out who is behind the codes in the ledger, she is ready for another house call and Matt needs to be there to help find out what Roxxon is hiding. Beating the truth out of the professor behind the encryption, Matt and Elektra venture out to the train yard in search for a specific car. Finding that it is filled with sand, they have fallen into a setup and have to battle their way back to freedom. Both taking a beating as well, Elektra winds up with more injuries than she is used to and Matt is more than happy to sew her back up. As the night flashes by quickly and morning has come, Matt is late for the trial leaving his team in the weeds. Knowing that what he did was wrong, Matt is able to break the coroner on the stand, but in the process finds out that he was visited by someone else as well. Fighting a never ending battle with his ex-girlfriend, Matt is forced to go out again, only to find out what the Yakuza are really trying to hide. With Matt being absent when the trial begins, Karen and Foggy are forced to come up with a game plan of their own. District Attorney Reyes does not pull any punches when it comes to what Frank Castle has done in her city and is calling for his head on a platter from the jury. Not being prepared, Foggy is forced to make the argument of his own to save the ex-marines' life. Going off script, he is able to appeal to the human side of the crimes that were committed and captures the hearts of at least a few people in the courtroom. But when day two of the trial is at hand and the coroner takes the stand, he comes clean without a question about falsifying the Castle’s autopsies. As the mention of two men in dark suits comes out again surrounding Frank, the cover-up of his past is getting deeper, but whomever these men are, they are not on trial, the Punisher is. Talk about a difference of opinion being expressed in this episode, wow! The part that grabbed me was when Karen asks Matt about what he thinks about the Devil and if what he is doing is wrong. With no true response, Matt finds out that Karen is starting to think that vigilante justice might be justified if the situation warrants it. Then Foggy taking a stand against his best friend in the world for not doing his job for the firm in lieu of going out and fighting criminals at night. The blowback of not being truthful with his friends is coming back to haunt Matt once again and coming clean about Elektra being back in the picture does not help matters as well. Matt has his hands full trying to live his double life, but if he is not able to pick which one is more important to him, he may end up losing more than his business, he could lose his life overall. Like I said, the episodes keep getting better and better as they go on and this one is full of emotions and opinions that need to be checked before Nelson and Murdock will be able to work together again. Written by ShaeTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...Sorry this blog is a bit on the late side everyone! I recently had to get ready to move on short notice, which put a dent in a lot of things. But I am now in my new place and am trying to get my life reorganized! Normally I try to get this blog out as soon as I can, I just didn't get a chance to watch this episode until last night. Talk about busy! I half expected this episode to be about Killian's half-brother Liam, but it was actually about his older brother. Seeing the man end up in the underworld is a bit of a shock, since Liam was supposedly the more sensible of the two. I wasn't surprised to find that big brother didn't approve of Emma....seems Liam was quite reluctant to actually accept Emma, and totally blamed her for Killian being here. Which, I mean, yeah, it kind of is her fault. Emma suspects something is up with the older Jones and she's not wrong. Liam's acting fishy, pun intended, for a reason. He's made a deal with Hades behind Hook's back; that's just in poor taste. Still, Liam's determination to keep the secret was rather impressive. Not only did he lie to everyone about it, he actually did find the book, rip out the pages and destroy them, then lied to Killian's face about it. Guys, this is a perfect example of how not to be a terrible person. Just kidding, life is complicated. We find out that Killian and Liam used to be indentured servants to a ship, thanks to daddy dearest. That Liam made a choice to stay with his brother, and then bad decisions were made. Hook has been the more drunk of the two, and along the way Liam always felt responsible. A mutiny is staged and a deal is offered. Hades will give Liam what he wants, and save his brother, at the cost of the ship's crew's souls. For the sake of drama, and because it's a good deal, right? Liam takes it. That's right, Killian spent his whole life thinking his brother was perfect, only to find out that he was a liar. The ultimate sacrifice is made and Liam, not to mention the innocent ship's crew, get to move on to their better place. Throughout the episode we saw Emma and Hook kind of fight, and he finally figured out that she's kind of got a point. Killian wants to live. Only, here's a snag. Liam did rip out the pages of the storybook removing Hades' story. It's a good thing we have the Author with us, right? Henry makes the decision to do his job. After finding the pen and ink he thought he destroyed, he can write Hades story, and he can do his job, record history. What is Hades story? Well, it involves Zelena, so it really can't be that good. Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...The women in Matt Murdock’s life are far from simple, especially his exes. With Elektra back in the picture, she has plans for herself and Matt to battle the Yakuza and find out what her holding company is really up to. Although he is reluctant to the idea, Matt is thrust back into his Daredevil suit since Elektra has known all along. Finishing off the last of the soldiers, the two discuss terms on how this mission will work and Matt wants nothing more than for his ex to leave the city as soon as possible. The public defender for Frank Castle has made his way to the offices of Nelson and Murdock to get a signature on Karen’s statement on what happened in the hospital. Seeing that several facts were left off of the statement, Karen is sure that there is something being hidden and now Matt is starting to see it as well. Convincing his friends that trying to protect a man’s life is worth the battle, the group heads down to have a face to face with Frank Castle. It is a media circus surrounding the hospital, but the group is able to make it up to Frank’s room and convince him to hire them as his legal team. Not going unnoticed, District Attorney Reyes is not too far away and tries to throw out the legal team, but when she hears that Frank has retained council with them, she is forced to leave in a huff. Trying to find more about who Frank Castle is, Foggy starts the questioning, but Frank will not speak to him. As Karen is left in the room, alone with the mad killer, she is able to open Frank up to be a human once again. Talking about his kids and the silly things they do and how much he loved them, but then is able to recount what happened that day at the carousel when he lost his family. As Foggy is working outside of the room, he is able to get a great plea deal for Frank, but when the judge and DA come in to hear the official plea, "Not Guilty" comes across Frank Castle’s lips. Now entering the biggest trial they have ever been a part of, Nelson and Murdock have one week to get ready and Matt must be involved. Being called away from the hospital by Elektra, Matt is now going to fulfill his one job that he promised his ex-girlfriend. Needing to find the ledgers from the Roxxon Corporation, Elektra has devised a plan that will go off without a hitch. But when arriving at the gala event, Matt notices that their mark is much more protected than they expected. Being able to acquire his keycard and making it to a sealed off floor, Matt and Elektra are able to use their skills to locate the ledger, but then they are quickly discovered. Making it out the front door in one piece, the two start digging through the ledger and find out that there are encrypted entries, leaving them to wonder what exactly the company is trying to hide. These episodes just keep getting better as the season moves on and the story takes another couple steps forward. I am dying to see what District Attorney Reyes is hiding and how she will benefit from the death of the Punisher. There is no love between these two characters, and even less after their latest conversation. Once again, Frank Castle opens up a little bit more about his past and how it is his fault that his family is dead. When seeing the look on his face when being read the police report about how his family was killed, I thought he was gonna burst out of the restraints right there and go to work. Karen has to be the unsung hero in this entire series as she has a way of making people feel comfortable around her. She is so nice and determined to find the truth, it is next to impossible to stop her when she knows what she is looking for. Well, on to episode seven, I cannot believe that the season is already halfway over. Written by ScottyTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...The weather is not the only thing heating up in Hell’s Kitchen after Matt and Karen share a very special moment together. But things cool down quickly when Matt is visited by an old friend, Elektra Natchios. Elektra is the woman he remembers her being, yet wants no part of her new offer. Finding out that she put money into the Nelson and Murdock account, Matt wants to see why she really wants him to be involved at all. Finding a rooftop to eavesdrop from, Matt listens as Elektra plays the victim, but also hears everything that happens when the computer servers in the office go offline. Elektra has the know how to take down the people holding her money, but for some reason, she wants Matt back. With the Punisher in police custody, Nelson and Murdock should be thriving, yet their clients are quickly starting to dwindle. With a quick visit from the Assistant District Attorney, Foggy has to decline his help to get Reyes’ choke hold off of the office. Foggy will not do anything that is illegal for any reason, even if it is to save his job, so he calls his old friend Marci for a drink. Knowing that he wants something else other than her pleasant company, Marci tells her old friend what she knows about the District Attorney and her plans to make a run for the Mayor’s office. With the Punisher in chains, her next target will be the vigilante known as the Devil and with those two behind bars and the streets being run by the police once again, there will be nothing to hold her back. Karen is having a difficult time with what the stories in the newspapers are holding back about the Punisher. Knowing that he had a family and seeing his past accomplishments from when he was a Marine, the lack of any reporting of this is pointing to a cover-up. Checking with the paper's editor, Ellison, Karen is surprised to see that they did their research, yet none of these facts show up in their databases. Checking the old archives, paper by paper, the week that Frank Castle was put in the hospital, there is no mention of a shooting or anything about a family being slain. But this search doesn't end up being a complete waste of time, since Ellison remembers a story he tried to run around the same time about a mob shootout and when seeing the picture of the carousel in the paper and matching it with the one in Castle’s family photo, Karen is able to put the pieces together that Castle’s family was killed in the crossfire. Most of this episode however took place in the past, showing how the relationship between Matt and Elektra came to be. Being a young law student, Matt had a cute appeal to the rich Elektra but she needed something a little more dangerous. Finding out what made the young man tick, Elektra keeps him on his toes and makes sure he will do what she wants him to do to keep her happy. Breaking into places becomes a thrill for them both as they confess their love for each other, but on one fateful night, Matt breaks into the wrong house. When the old crime boss Roscoe Sweeney arrives home to see two young kids in his house, he is beside himself, but Elektra has the skills and training to handle the situation. Tying up the man who put the hit on her boyfriend’s father, Elektra believes that Matt has it in himself to kill the old gangster out of revenge. Matt is unable to and after beating the heck out of the old man, chooses to call the police instead. But when he looks up, the young love of his life is gone and his life will have to start again. Good backstory episode, I was starting to wonder when Elektra would make an appearance in the show. Seeing how she and Matt became an item in their youth and now with her wanting him back, it is easy to see where the disconnect was. Although Matt will never have her back, he has to worry about being charming for Karen on their first date and when it ends up going well, he needs to peel himself back just a little bit before he gets in too deep. I loved Karen’s drive in this episode, she is determined to find out why things are being left out of the reports surrounding the Punisher and her persistence pays off when she finds what she is looking for. There is something going on behind the scenes that nobody knows about yet and whatever it is, it has to do with Frank Castle, The Punisher. Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...When I sat down to watch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. this week after last week's tearjerker of a goodbye for Bobbi and Hunter I was expecting there to be a sense of unity amongst a group that just said goodbye to two people who sacrificed their careers for the greater good. I truly thought their actions would represent so much more to their cohorts and they would honor their comrades by way of incredible deeds. Well it turns out that I was wrong. Incredibly wrong at that. Outside of Mack and Coulson, Bobbi and Hunter's goodbye seems to have had little effect on the team since the show decided to go to some pretty dark places this week on a moral level which in turn wiped away the honorable exit we saw last week and I found myself sitting there stunned after this one ended to be quite honest. This episode felt incredibly uncomfortable and nothing like the show I've come to love. That sense of discomfort came squarely from our favorite agents, since these characters didn't feel like the ones we have come to know, they felt like guest stars from a different show. I mean come on, it was cool to meet Mack's family and everything that came with that, but does he really strike anyone as a guy who takes a vacation? Something about it didn't feel right and it only got weirder from there, since it was also a little odd to see Coulson rip Lincoln to shreds the way he did on the flight over to Blake's safe house. It's not like Coulson to simply demand respect and command his people. He usually finds a way to reach them without activating boss mode on them. But all of these things that I think I would normally brush off if they popped up elsewhere in the series were perhaps amplified by the biggest stunner of the night...Daisy. Now, we know she is a fiesty character. She always has been, even when she was the obligatory "edgy hacker" character from so long ago, but last night...she crossed some serious lines with her willingness to do anything and everything to learn about the Watchdogs by more or less hunting down a member of the group and borderline torturing him to gain information. It's something we have never quite seen on the show and well, while we have seen our heroes go to tough places internally to save the day in the past and pay their own price for it, this season is taking that concept and pushing it further. First it was Coulson offing Ward and now it's Daisy slinking down to the bad guys level. But what troubles me more, is that Mack and Fitz didn't say or do a whole lot to stop her despite the fact they clearly disagreed. So I guess really this is an episode that leaves me wondering a couple of things...is this a one off episode where the writers wanted to see what it would be like if our characters indulged their darker sides a little bit, or is this an incredible paradigm shift in the tone and design of the show. Because this is quite the slippery slope for our characters to be on now and well, once the precedent is set it's difficult to put Pandora back in her box. But when all is said and done, I really do hope that this is a one off episode and this strange behavior across the board is explained away by the characters indeed grieving for the loss of Bobbi and Hunter. It won't justify their actions from this episode, but what they've done will at least make a little bit of sense. Hopefully the return/introduction of Ward/Hive next week will give this team the focus they need once again. Until next time. Written by John Edward BetancourtTHIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...I'll be the first to admit that I've always loved crossovers when it comes to comic books. I don't know why, but it is always so cool to see another superhero pop up on the pages and help save the day. Seeing a pair of people on the same side working toward the same goal is always just magical and it pleases me to no end that it's starting to become a standard in cinematic comic book universes and hopefully last night's episode of Supergirl helps make it a standard for television. I say that, because "Worlds Finest" the first ever multi network superhero crossover event, was an absolute delight to watch. It was truly all the things we love about the superhero genre condensed into an hour because we were witness to raised stakes, epic fight scenes and a little bit of character growth along the way...all thanks to a surprise appearance from The Flash in National City, and I'm so glad this whole event revolved around the wonder of the Multiverse theory, a staple of the DC Universe and an easy way to keep everything that happened on last night's episode contained to each series' respective realities. But the wonder of this episode didn't end there. The first thing I absolutely loved about this one was our villains. It was great to see Livewire return to the screen...and I was super happy with the fact that Siobhan's past was tied closer to the comics after all, adding a little of the mysticism and magic that tends to lightly permeate the Kryptonian side of DC. But aside from that, these two villains were pretty badass on screen together and while their plan was on the simple side and based solely in revenge I really didn't care. This was a chance to watch bad gals team up and that of course led to a super fight in the heart of National City, which turned out to be the best part of the night. I really can't help it, but I am a sucker for action in any superhero story simply because of the amazing things that both sides can do and well...this battle royale did not disappoint. It was a fast paced showdown that had me on the edge of my seat and the best part of all, it meant something. This was the moment when Kara regained the trust of the city she accidentally betrayed and watching the people rally behind her and stand with their hero was a touching moment indeed and oddly enough at times this whole sequence felt like another homage to the Superman film franchise, specifically Superman II when the public went after General Zod. But I digress, after all this isn't the first time and likely not the last time they will pay tribute to the films, what mattered most here is that this episode of the show was strictly for the fans and there were so many moments that I found myself simply grinning at the television with pure joy. As always, Grant Gustin was phenomenal as Barry Allen and he and Melissa Benoist were a fantastic duo on screen and I really do hope the powers that be find a way to tie these two worlds together one more time. But despite all the fun and wonder we enjoyed this episode, there was still one big issue that needs to be resolved, Non, and it looks like the show is taking us back into the thick of it with that curious and ominous ending now that Myriad has been activated. I'm glad we will finally get the answers we need when it comes to this longstanding evil Kryptonian plan and I'm glad we had plenty of fun on the show before it came back into play. Until next time. After attending Grotto’s funeral, Nelson and Murdock are ready to start their day and finding out what Karen has been able to dig up on the Punisher, Matt is ready to spring into action once again. Seeing that a bullet went through his new foe’s head, there must be more to the story as to what exactly made the ex-marine snap. Before he is able to get any additional information, Karen is already on her way to find someone that knows who the mad man really is. Questioning the orderly that took Frank Castle home, Karen is able to find his home and goes snooping after dark. Finding pictures of Frank’s family with nobody in the house, she is starting to put the pieces together on her end. While watching families having fun on the carousel, Frank finds himself surrounded by the Irish gang with no place to go. Being able to take out a couple of the goons, he is overmatched by drugs and stun guns and taken to Finn's house of pain. Only wanting to find out where his money is, Finn starts the torture with some common beatings, but when he sees that the Punisher will not give up his secret, he turns to a more sinister way of questioning with a power drill. Even that does not affect the man that has killed half of his crew and he decided to try one more tactic, bringing his dog in and threatening to kill it as well. This gets Frank’s attention and he gives the location of the money, but he has something special in the suitcase as the gang finds out. Trolling the recent violence in the city, Matt is trying to figure out who is behind it this time since shop keepers are being taken out. The Irish gang has been pulling no punches in finding the Punisher and now the violence has escalated once again. Hearing that there are gun shots reported at the carousel, Matt gets there first and is able to question one of the survivors. Knowing that Frank will be murdered by the group if he does not help, Matt gets to the hideout and battles his way to the torture chamber. Finding Frank is already working on his own escape, the two are able to neutralize the situation without killing too many people. Getting safely to the cemetery, Daredevil and the Punisher have a little heart felt conversation before the cops arrive to take him away. Finding out what Frank’s little poem is about before he pulls the trigger, Matt gets the story about what happened to make Frank turn into the brutal assassin he has become. A very powerful episode and while the last one was off the chain, you finally start to find out what is driving the Punisher to do his dastardly deeds. The story about his daughter, his foundation, would drive anyone to tears and was well played, you even see Daredevil get a little choked up. It appears that the District Attorney knows who the Punisher is and Karen has the crazy idea that he has been turned loose in the city to cover something bigger up. Although Foggy and Matt don’t seem to agree with this, Karen will not be deterred in her search for the truth. Daredevil has also just received a new suit from his old friend Melvin as the game has changed drastically and with the bigger guns coming out, more protection will be necessary. Watching Matt as he is struggling with the loss of Grotto as he was not able to stop it and then being able to come back down to earth and enjoy the company of Karen might have made this episode extremely special. There is something sweet going on between these two, and hopefully it does not interfere with Matt’s night job. |
