It was another wild week in the zombiepocalypse and it is time to bid farewell to all the warm fuzzies we enjoyed last week on the show. No coming of age stories here, no giant cans of pudding. It's time to find out what happened to the rest of the survivors of the Battle of the Prison and this was an intense ride full of twists and turns and fear as to who may have lived and who may have died. Not to mention, The Walking Dead finally answered some of the questions left unanswered from the first half of the season. So come along with us as we recap; "Inmates".
The Good: Well, this was an episode that wasted no time picking up the pace. From the get go we are treated to survivors on the run and the action didn't let up for a moment. For the first time we saw Daryl looked like a whipped puppy and that was something I found unsettling since well...Daryl is a badbass. But his time with Beth was short lived on screen, because we had so much more to cover survivor wise. We finally caught up with Tyreese and the two little girls and guess what? We finally discovered that Judith survived since Tyreese and the creepy sisters who could pass for the twins in The Shining (Come play with us Judith) had her with them and we also see why it's dangerous to have newborn children at the end of the world because her cries attracted many a walker. We also learned, there is something horribly wrong with Lizzie and I'm starting to buy in on our very own Mattie's theory that she is the one who waxed David and Karen, I mean seriously, it was pretty freakin' obvious she was trying to smother Lil' Asskicker. If anything, this episode moved at a maddening pace and I was a big fan of how the story unfolded this week with this slick style of storytelling. I liked that we were able to see the progression of how each story tied into one another. Plus, we got two big and awesome surprises, the return of Carol and kudos to her for playing dumb on why she missed the Governor's wholesale murdering spree and we also got the addition at long last...of Sergeant Abraham Ford, a huge character from the comics.
The Bad: My only complaint about this episode, is that I really dislike Lizzie now. Granted, I wasn't a fan of her annoying antics before, but it's worse now. Any child that is cool with slitting the throats of bunnies and um..smothering a baby is more or less a little Governor in training. I'm hoping they deal with this little monster quickly and swiftly and for trying to kill a baby, she deserves to be walker chow.
The Verdict: This was a solid episode that kept the action going and kept in with this newfound theme of being uncomfortable. It was great to see the return of Carol and good to see that as of right now at least, we don't have to grieve for any new characters. Looking forward to next week as we get to know Abraham a little better and am I alone in thinking this "Sanctuary" Tyreese and the gang found has to be bad news?
