THIS IS THE EMERGENCY SPOILER ALERT SYSTEM...YOU ARE ADVISED TO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK...
The beautiful sanctuary that we saw the West Georgia Correctional Facility become last week on The Walking Dead has clearly been shattered the moment poor Patrick took his first breath as a member of the living dead. But there are worse things going on in the prison, someone is feeding the walkers and drawing crowds and well...the new threat that they all face is actually quite terrifying. So without further ado, let's get down to recapping "Infected".
The Good: This was...an uncomfortable episode. Not only because of the buckets of blood that flowed like wine at a tasting, but because of the real world science grounded within it and because it brought us back to one thing that quite frankly the show hasn't covered...that these characters are still human and being sick is still a legitimate threat out there in the world. It was also awesome to see Rick bring the python out of retirement. Oh, and kudos to Greg Nicotero's team for pulling off another Savini/Romero shout out with the guts spill from Day of the Dead. But most importantly, we have a pretty solid mystery on our hands now. Who is feeding the walkers and why, and what happened to Karen and the other sick survivor? I mean did they die and turn or did someone handle them in advance?
The Bad: Honestly, no complaints, I was into this episode the whole time.
The Verdict: Two episodes in and the Scott Gimple era has started off with a bang. Plenty of action, plenty of scares, and I'll be there next week for more!
